What’s Your History? Trust or Hide?

Habakkuk 3:2

The more history you have with someone, the easier it is to trust them. I’m not one to trust quickly. I think it comes from a lifetime of being hurt and let down. Oh, I know I’m not the only one with that type of past, but I am one of those who throws up some strong stone walls and hunkers down behind them when the hurt comes. Over time, I had a pretty good system of walls going and it was just easier to stand behind them rather than walk around out in the open.

Now, I have a personal history with God. It’s becoming easier to tear down a few walls and just trust that he’s going to see me through what ever I happen to be dealing with today. Not only do I have a personal history, I have a record of his amazing works on behalf of those who belong to him, and those he’s just inviting to give their trust. He’s just generous like that!

Later this year, we will have a month of memorizing God’s promises and based on his track record, even this woman who is quick to duck behind walls and hide from hurt has to admit that He keeps his promises! And some mighty big promises have been made and delivered upon.

Father, I am in awe of your amazing works! I seem to always be in need of your help. Thanks for not getting tired of coming to my rescue, and thanks for coaxing me out from behind my walls. Life is a lot more fun out here!
